No. Guests cannot post messages. The reason you see that status is because of two scenarios...

One - Someone has just logged in, but the forumup software hasn't as yet associated the username with the IP address...hence...Guest Posting.

Two - Either a non-user or a spambot is trying to post without any luck. Hehe!
